Did i put my processor paste on the right way?

i used a radio shack premium plus ceramic thermal compund. it was 7 dollars. i applied a layer to the heatsink and a layer to the processor. im just wondering if i put too much? my proccessor stays around 45 celsius to 50 celsius. its maximum is 70 celsius.
