2002 Hyundai Elantra GT 2.0: A/C will work and be cold for 1min then stop cooling..then work in 10-20min- Why?

I have a 2002 Hyundai Elantra GT 2.0. The A/C will work and be cold for a minute then will stop cooling. Then I have to wait another 10-20 minutes for it to start cooling again. What is the problem? Is it a problem with the thermal sensor?
